Russian insurers to get road accidents info via GLONASS from Jan 1
MOSCOW, Dec 30 (PRIME) -- Russian insurers will start receiving data on road accidents from January 1, 2016, via satellite system GLONASS and its subsystems, including ERA-GLONASS, a state emergency response system for car accidents, PRIME reported Wednesday.
All information on accidents will be handed over to the automatized information system of the compulsory third party car insurance, widely known as OSAGO. They should contain a date, time, coordinates of an accident and a location of vehicles involved, among others.
The corresponding ruling was adopted by the government in November 2014.
Any heavy accident, if a safety airbag is used or acceleration sensors show overcharge, activates ERA-GLONASS, and the information about the accident is transmitted to the system’s contact centers and emergency services.
